Curtilage structure to a grade II* listed house
The coach house to a fine early 18th C house, partly converted to home office use, is set behind a walled garden. Close by is a grade I listed parish church. Not only is the coach house listed by virtue of curtilage, any external works would be likely to affect the setting of the house and the church. The owner wished to create a new dwelling, with an extension and separate the Coach House from the main house. Working in association with JMAD Architecture.
a pre-application submission was prepared, informed by an assessment of significance, design advice and the production sketch layouts and elevations. A positive response resulted in a full planning application and listed building consent to made to the local authority was approved and for internal and external alterations, and a sensitively designed extension located where old map and other documentary evidence proved there were earlier structures around the couch house.
